business strategy - John Downes - acorro

Create Strategy

Do you have the right five-year strategy and can you articulate it?

What is your exit strategy and are you exit-ready?

Will you get the value you need to, and,

If your family or staff take over the business, will it reward them or be a noose around their necks?

Those who fail to plan, plan to fail. (Benjamin Franklin).

We know that:

  • a good strategy is critical to the focus of a business
  • the Business Why helps engage the whole team behind what we do, and
  • a clear view of what success looks like, is essential to setting our tactics and plans.

Every business needs to understand: why it exists, who it serves, how its business of the business delivers value to a customer and, how it makes a profit from the transactions so it can reinvest in itself. It also needs to understand where it will be in three to five years and what steps, resources, and investment its need to get there.

To Create Strategy, we should consider a number of these dimensions:

  • What are the Vision and Values of the business over the next 3 to 5 years? What are the measures of success we will be celebrating?
  • What Strategy and Plan do we need to deliver this?
  • How does our Business Model support us and what changes are needed to reflect our customer needs, product and service offerings, innovation, industry, the web, and our ownership structure?
  • What are the #criticalfew priorities for the next 12 months, and the next tangible steps to deliver them?
